about

"An album that is a complex blend of styles with layered tracks that are full of surprises. The drums and rhythms lead jazz-style shifts without being distracting. The vocals have an alluring cadence and range from syncopated, androgynous delivery in The Bird's Eye to a choral swell in the psychedelic song Diligence. The keyboard riffs incorporate unexpected dissonant keys that have a heavy Eastern European influence. With layered guitar riffs through carefully tweaked amplifiers, this is definitely a rock album. However, the European influences, jazz timings and other factors make it difficult to put into a more specific genre." - John Molseed, Pulse

Track Name: The Bird's Eye
The bird’s eye
sees nothing
but myriad creatures.
hidden improbable
visible light
clear forever

high speeds
all right by me
eye sees
blurs right to me

the engine
a roaring sound
through thin air
persistent howl
dazed
chased around

the bird’s eye
sees nothing
but white noise creatures
Hidden
and probably right
clear invisible sound

high speeds
all right by me
eye sees
blurs right to me

overhead it’s all a haze
sees nothing left
The bird’s eye
sees all the blur that we do

high speeds
all right by me
eye sees
blurs right to me
Track Name: Witness to Fiction
Her candle wick burns slowly.
She feels her vision grey
The ashen world before her
a charcoal woolen scarf

The charcoal woolen scarf she wears
produced in heaven’s mill
by looming hunking ghosts
the ragged seers of desperate hopes

Wandering these great halls like lost gods
darlings of the industrial lords
They pass - towering over the world below

A clear mind would clear the room.
Would she leave or be there still?
Would she stand with you and speak in lost languages?
Would she answer you with simple words?

The silence breaks I speak in verse
I try so hard to believe in words
I witness and I testify:
The millions lost weren’t mine

Late night TV still makes her cry
such deep and careworn tears
The scarf she wears of charcoal grey
a great dark loss beneath the waves

I live in a fictional world of ghosts
This mortal veil our world enrobes
We are but shadows passing through the ice below

A clear mind would clear the room.
Would she leave or be there still?
Would she stand with you and speak in lost languages?
Would she answer you with simple words?
Track Name: Diligence
Turn out all the lights
and softly whisper in my ear
your anger
recompense
for losses in this mess
Gentle epithets
are searing
through your teeth
and lips
and fingers
at your mouth
no screams will drown us out.
Selfless visions
mannerisims
all you saw as good intentions.
Diligence
is conscious thoughtlessness.
Track Name: Surprise and Surmise
Conclusions reached
Truth to beseech
I’m no longer surprised

Faith unbelieved
Fate unreceived
I’m no longer surprised
